Dear Alexis,
It was wonderful to see you in Africa. I am glad I was also able to bring Diana along so that you could see more of the family. You are doing a great service there I am sure.
Here we are in deep winter for a few more weeks. I miss the warmth I felt in Africa as well as you. The trip was quite educational in many respects. One can't hope to get to know an entire continent from visiting one nation, but it did broaden my perspective and make me more humble. I hope I can serve my students here as you are serving yours there. I have written you a letter in snail mail and I will send you some more :-)
